Fishin' Flash

So how did you do on your last outing? Where were the fish rising and what bug did you use? Use a Fishin' Flash to brag about your success, complain about uncooperative fish, or simply to alert your buddies to something they should know. Make it specific enough to be useful, but general enough so that we're not all standing on the same rock tomorrow. You send it and we'll post it, but keep it kinda short - just a paragraph or two.

April 26th on Pelican, early afternoon wading for bass and bluegill was very productive with white marabou and foam poppers until the wind blew us off the lake and looking for cover.

April 28th at LC, weather was great and so was the fishing. I did not have any luck with midges, especially the red ones. I guess it depended on which pond you were on. White, brown and black buggers work very well where we were at. Later in the afternoon, I did manage to convince a few trout to take a black ant dry pattern. Loads of fun.

4/30/2012 Dave Winegar LC Ranch 27-28 April. The annual fish out. 27th very windy with lots of sand in the air and whitecaps but good fishing. 28th picture perfect with little wind and blue skies. Probably the best two days I have ever had and lost count on hookups with fish in the 16-22 inch range. Use red bodied midges and black Wooly Buggers.
4/17/2012 John Chanslor Fished Lees Ferry and caught about 50 rainbows. Most were around 14 inches, but I got a few 16 and 17 inchers. Used a size 18 black zebra midge and also got some on streamers.
3/11/2012 Mike Leigh Midge fishing on the Middle Provo has been pretty good lately. The hatch is happening in the middle of the day and the fish are definitely tuned in. Black midges both big and small have been working. Dries, nymphs and soft hackles have all produced. I have heard that stoneflies are working also, but have not worked for me.
3/3/2012 John Chanslor Fished near the headwaters of the Sevier River and got some very nice browns on a San Juan worm. The weather was not bad as spring comes a little earlier down there.
1/29/2012 John Chanslor I fished the Lower Provo on Sunday, January 29 and had  pretty good day. Caught 6 trout between16 and 19 inches using a size 20 black zebra midge. The river was crowded and I felt that I could do much better on a week day, so I went back on Monday. Monday I got skunked.
11/26/2011 Mike Leigh I got out to the MP a little late; about 2 pm. There were a lot of people on the river which is to be expected on a sunny saturday. It was a little tough finding a place to wedge myself in between other fisherman. There were still a few fish rising to something that I couldn't quite pick out. A week ago the BWO's were still hatching, I don't know if they are done yet or not. I caught 3 on an egg pattern fished deep, two were a pretty nice size. I also tried several midge larva patterns, but none worked. Midge adults were buzzing around and on the water. I think they were laying eggs. The adult midges I caught looked to be about a size 24 with a dark body; probably dark olive.
