Welcome
Welcome to the High Country Fly Fishers website. We are a conservation-oriented fly fishing club located in beautiful Park City, Utah. Except for July, August and September when we shut down to go fishing, we meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Annex of St Mary's Catholic Church at the intersection of SR 224 and White Pine Canyon Road in Park City (map). Old friends and new members are always welcome, so drop by for good conversation, interesting programs and fish stories.

Fishing Small Streams with Steve Schmidt of Western Rivers Fly Fisher. |

Hi Everyone,
Wow, it's May already and the fishing has really been getting fun. Reports are good on both the Upper and Lower Provo River and also on the Green River. I haven't heard any news about Strawberry or any of the other South Slope Streams yet, but I suspect that Currant Creek might be worth the drive.
The Fly Tying and Fly Fishing Expo took place on April 6th and 7th and was the most successful so far. Thanks to the HCFF members who helped out: Bill Quapp, Gerry Wenner, Jeff Wagner, Pat Ronneburg, Bill Klusman, Jim Pigg, John Kirby, Chuck Wolf, John Shultz, Dave Tripp, Steve Caldwell, and Jim Blevins. If I missed anyone please let me know so that I can mention you next month. Jeff Wagner and Gerry Wenner deserve special thanks because they really organized the event and made it happen.
On a more serious note, I want to mention outdoor safety since it is the time of year that we might drive or hike to more remote locations because of the pleasant weather. Tell someone where you are going and what time you will check in with them, have some sort of signaling device, and be able to survive at least one night. Last week another club member and myself were stranded at the back of Navajo Canyon on Lake Powell. We did not have enough warm clothes for the increasingly cold temperatures, and we were lucky to be rescued before it was too late. Anyway the adventure ended well and we re-learned lessons that we already knew but got lazy about because "It was only a short boat ride."
Remember that there is no club meeting this month. Our next club meeting is June 6th which will be our last one until October.
Tight lines,
John Chanslor
